Now That Due Has Given To Frost
James Daniel

Now that due has given to frost,

And joy of the sun a distant touch

That lingers yet despite what cost--

Farewell the love I sought so much.

To walk is not work, yet no stroll

Is taken in this worse season,

For fair love’s dreams take bitter toll

When thoughts drift without fair reason.

Take care, take care-- love’s bitter winds

Blow without and love, so often dreams,

Changed in sad time two loving friends

Trapped in nature’s freeze ... it seems.
